Embrace technology and media ethics scribes urged

Bungoma County Director of Communications John Nalianya has urged Members of the Fourth Estate to embrace technology and professionalism in their work.

Addressing the Press while gracing the official launch of Mt. Elgon Media Hub at Kapsokwony Social Hall, Nalianya emphasized the need to match the changing trends in media coverage by journalists through advanced technology.

“Adopt technology and professionalism in your work to remain afloat, times have changed,” he said

He encouraged the Mt. Elgon Press Club to diversify their social media networks and news sources to meet the audience demands, lauding their great efforts in setting up a media hub.

“This media hub is a great milestone towards enhancing your work efficiency. Leverage on the growing audience by incorporating different media elements. Cast your nets wide, ride on diversity,” he reiterated.

The Communications Director further implored the Press to stick to the unity of purpose, assuring them of his unwavering support.

“You must work together like ants to achieve maximum results. Remain united, we shall fully support you,” he stated.

The newly launched Mt. Elgon Media Hub facility houses an ICT centre, Cyber Cafe, Newsroom, editing suit, Broadcasting room among others, and is expected to offer a wide range of services including training of media students and as an information centre for the surrounding communities in the region.

It will further be used to enable the community to accesses the 5028 digitized Government service.

Miss Barbra Kakai (Head of Governor’s Press Unit) Mt. Elgon Security teams and local leaders were also present at the function.
