Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has thrown her weight behind embattled Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza after Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) impeached her for the second time in 11 months.
Wavinya faulted the MCAs for the move and asked Governor Kawira to initiate collection of signatures to dissolve the county government.
She noted that it was unfair for the MCAs to impeach the governor twice in a year despite Kawira’s effort to initiate development.
Governor Wavinya who was speaking during a seed’s distribution exercise in Masinga said she will support Kawira as a fellow woman leader.
“As a fellow woman leader, I stand by Kawira. You can’t impeach a person twice. The people of Meru elected her because they believed in her and as a woman I will support her, “said Wavinya.
She added that if the MCAs were unwilling to work with governor Kawira, the devolved unit should be dissolved to allow the leaders to seek for a fresh mandate.
“Let the MCAs go home together with the governor and seek votes again the,” advised Wavinya.
She however expressed optimism that the Senate will exonerate Kawira and overrule the impeachment.
