Council applauds CS for new sub-county

The Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders has expressed gratitude to the interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki for offering them another administrative unit.

The Igembe central sub-county which is the 2nd largest populated unit in Meru County has birthed Kiengu sub-county, which was inaugurated on Friday, 22nd September 2023 by the Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.

The Kiengu sub-county is comprised of Igembe Eastward and Athiru Ruujine.

“This is an opportunity for employment to our people, especially the youths and we are very happy for the move,” said the chairman of the council Linus Kathera.

He expressed his satisfaction to the fact that during the government recruitments, the residents will be considered for opportunities such as the Teacher Service Commission (TSC), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), and Police recruitment among others.

”We are happy that crucial services such as registration of persons, birth, and death are brought near to Mwananchi. People from lower sides of Kiutine and Mureera will not travel for long distances in search of services which were only available in Kangeta and Maua town.” Kathera said.

The council further urged the CS to give first priority to the residents when offering administrative positions in the area.

He urged area leaders to continue delivering development to the residents and maintaining peace for the Meru community.
