At least 607 candidates shortlisted for the position of County Interns have successfully completed the suitability test to pave the way for the appointment of 200 to the six-month programme.
The Internship Programme is a Turkana County-led initiative aimed at integrating youth into the government working system to gain experience useful in the job market.
The successful interns will include those in possession of degrees, diplomas, and artisanal certificates in areas like plumbing, piping, and electrical.
The exercise is usually conducted twice every financial year.
The Human Resource Manager at the Public Service Board, Joseph Ngatotin, said the intake will be based on merit and warned the candidates against lobbying, as that would constitute to canvassing leading to automatic disqualification.
The current team is expected to be appointed to the internship programme in October 2023.
Senior HR officers, including Peter Kebo, Jennifer Ekidor, and Reuben Ekuwom, took part in the exercise.
