Kisumu Governor, Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o and his Sister Dr. Risper Nyagoy have been found guilty of contempt of court.
The High Court Judge Tripsisa Cherere on Thursday found the governor and sister guilty of contempt of court after they failed to comply with court orders in their father’s multimillion estate.
The two were sued by their nephews for failing to include them on inheritance list of the multi million estate.
In a ruling delivered by Justice Cherere on October 11 last year, letters that had placed Nyon’go and her sister as the sole administrators of the estate were revoked.
Justice Cherere directed the two to list one of their nephews, Kenneth Okuthe as a co-administrator.
After failing to comply with the directive, the nephews made a fresh application seeking a six months jail term for the governor and his sister for contempt of court.
Elder Nyong’o died on November 10, 2006 without a will leading to the property dispute amongst family members.
The properties under contention include 100 acres in Miwani, flats along Jogoo road in Nairobi, land in Manyatta, Tamu, Milimani estate and east Rata in Seme Sub County.
Justice Cherere said the duo will be sentenced on Tuesday 28th May, 2019.
