Shikoti residents get police post

Residents of Shikoti in Lurambi Sub County have a reason to smile following the opening of a new police post at Shikoti Market that will help improve security.

The police post, which was constructed through funding from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), was handed over to the police by Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Khamala.

The MP asked residents to utilise the police post to report cases and any vital information that would enable police officers to enhance security.

Kakamega Central Deputy County Commissioner Ngalia Ndaya said he expects police officers to cooperate with community members to enhance security and not use the post to harass residents.

“We don’t want the police post to be a symbol of harassing community members through arrests and locking them in cells; we want it to be a symbol of peace and security. Our peace will be maintained by ourselves as citizens,” he pointed out.

He said developments will occur when there is peace and security, noting that security ensures that everybody feels secure enough to perform their duties and engage in personal investment initiatives.
