Londiani Students to Face Arson Charges

Three candidates have been arraigned in a Molo Court for setting ablaze a dormitory valued at Sh 1.2 million at Londiani High School.

The trio, all aged 17 years and studying in the same school were charged jointly with committing the offence on May 4 this year at around 3pm.

They denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Alice Mukenga who granted them each a bond of Sh. 200,000.

Particulars of the charges show that on the material day, students while in their afternoon preps noticed thick smoke coming out from one of the dormitories named Longonot and raised an alarm.

The fire brigade from Kericho County were informed but arrived late when the fire had already destroyed property belonging to over 59 students but no one was hurt.

Last year, the school also experienced a similar fire incident.

Hearing of the case was slated for 24th June of this year.
