Wavinya flags off 363 players for KICOSCA games

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti officially flagged off a player team of 363 county staff members Sunday that will represent Machakos at this year’s Kenyan Inter-County and Cultural Association games (KICOSCA) that will take place in Meru.

Speaking at her office in Machakos, the Governor said that the 363 players comprised 22 teams, including soccer, volleyball, tug of war, athletics, choir, cultural presentations, and golf, among many others.

She said she was happy that the spirit of KICOSCA games has remained active for the past ten years since the establishment of a devolved government, where they have witnessed great games which have encouraged team spirit and cohesion among county workers.

“On behalf of my government, I wish you all the best as we compete with other teams across the country,” added Wavinya.

The Governor reminded them that Machakos has a history of winning in KICOSCA, where the football team bagged the national trophy in 2015, 2017, and 2018, and other games such as choir, basketball, and tug of war have also won trophies.

“I am challenging you to do the same and bring more trophies home, so we flag you off not only to participate but to win big and make Machakos proud,” urged Wavinya.

To encourage the players to win and ensure their safety, Wavinya dispatched two adequately equipped ambulances with medics in case their services were needed.

She noted that her government is committed to transforming Machakos into a leading sports hub and encouraged the youth to participate more in sports.
