Twin girls on Wednesday shocked a Kabarnet Court when they narrated how a bodaboda rider defiled them in turns and impregnated one of them.
The first girl, aged 14 years, in her recorded statement adduced by the prosecution told the court that on two occasions in August last year, the accused, Dennis Kibet Cheserek, requested her to accompany him to a nearby thicket in Marigat town where he told her to sleep with him while promising to pay Sh. 3,000.
Further the minor said that when they reached the bush the bodaboda man demanded to have sex with her and when she declined, he forced himself on her and refused to pay the money, claiming he had left his wallet in the house.
“Dennis told me that he loves me and asked me to accompany him to a nearby bush that was close to our shop. He told me if I was to sleep with him in return he would give me Sh. 3,000 and when I declined the offer he forced me to have sex in the bush. When I asked for the money he told me that he forgot to carry his wallet,” she stated.
She further stated that the accused who used to frequent her mother’s shop in Marigat town where she helps out in selling, came back again and asked if she could agree to go into the bush again and have sex with him in exchange for the Sh. 3, 000 he had not given to her on the first encounter.
The minor stated that after the second encounter she conceived and upon coming home during December holidays her mother noticed the pregnancy and immediately took her to hospital where pregnancy tests were done and the results came out positive.
On August 30, 2018, the prosecution submitted to the court that the other girl while at her mother’s shop was lured into the same bush by the culprit who promised to pay Sh. 1,000 if she accepted to sleep with him.
After defiling the minor, the court was told, the accused failed to pay the Sh. 1000 as he had promised and on another date the accused visited the minor’s home in the absence of the mother and called her through a corridor, this time promising to pay the Sh. 1000 as he had promised during the first day.
“I went home and found my mum very angry and she asked me where I had gone, she beat me up and I revealed to her everything Dennis had done to me. She immediately reported the matter to Marigat police station,” she narrated.
The Court heard that the mother took the standard eight girl to Marigat sub-county hospital where upon examination she was found not to be pregnant.
Witness statements read before Senior Principal Magistrate (SPM), Paul Biwott indicated that the accused who is known to the victims operates mostly around Marigat Matatu terminus where the two girls often helped their mother in her daily work during the holiday season.
The accused according to the statements, is described by business people in Marigat town to be a person fond of seducing teenage girls.
The hearing of the case will continue on May 24.
