The Busia County Commissioner (CC), Jacob Narengo has reminded the local residents to register with Huduma Namba for ease of access to government services and security.
Narengo expressed concern that some adults still did not have National Identity cards yet they claim to be Kenyans.
“One wonders whether such people know that some of these accountable documents are compulsory for one to be positively identified as a Kenyan citizen or not,” he said.
The CC stated that a total of 673, 517 people against the expected 800, 000 had registered by Monday this week, adding that there was need to look for the missing 200, 000 and establish whether they are Kenyans or not.
The County boss at the same time urged the residents to be vigilant and report suspicious characters to security agencies.
He stated that some suspected assailants at Matungu in Kakamega County were alleged to have escaped into the border county.
“I have established that since three suspects were burnt to death recently, some have found their way to back Busia,” he said, adding that the local residents should assist police to nab them by volunteering information.
The official was speaking during a security meeting with Busia Body Builders Association at the County Commissioner’s boardroom on Tuesday.
