Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba is expected to grace the KSSS Busia County Finals that will see favourite Madende Secondary take on John Osogo Secondary School at Nambale Boys High School.
The CS will be launching Talanta Hela, where scouts will be on the lookout for talents to join sports academies. A host of top teams in the country will also be scouting for talent to reinforce their teams.
John Osogo from Bunyala sub-county qualified after ACK St. Mark Ng’elechom from Secondary from Teso Central were disqualified despite qualifying for tomorrow’s ( Saturday’s) finals of the Busia County Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association Games for irregularities.
The John Osogo boys won their appeal over allegations that the Teso central side had fielded ineligible players. The newcomers Ng’elechom surprised John Osogo, who were unbeaten 3-0 on penalties in the semi-finals after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
Osogo topped pool A with 7 points following their 3-1 victory against Kocholia, 3-2 win against St. Mathias, and a goalless draw against Bujumba.
Bujumba beat St. Mathias 1-0 before being held to goalless draws by Kocholia and John Osogo to finish their preliminary matches with 5 points to their credit.
Kocholia finished third with 4 points following their 2-1 victory against St. Mathias and a goalless draw against Bujumba. St. Mathias were last with no points.
However, the two finalists have earned the distinction of representing Busia in the regional games.
In soccer ladies, defending champions Kingandole from Butula, who came from behind to beat Katakwa from Teso North 3-1 in the semis, are also out of the games after Katakwa won an appeal against them as more drama unfolded.
The underdogs, Katakwa Secondary from Teso North, will take on St. Joseph’s Chakol from Teso South for the girls finals, also earning a spot to represent Busia County in the Western regional finals. Chakol qualified after beating Khwilare from Nambale 1-0.
In volleyball, boys, Sigalame from Samia Sub County will battle it out with Sisenye from Bunyala in the final of an all-Busia final. Sigalame beat the hosts, Nambale Boys, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-12), as Sisenye upset Butula Boys 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22).
Nambale Boys will be packed to capacity from 7 am as the finals for different sports disciplines ranging from soccer ladies, volleyball boys and girls, netball, and Rugby Sevens will be played.
