As Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams kick off, Kakamega County Director of Education Hellen Nyang’au has assured parents that their children are well prepared and security beefed up to ensure they write the exams without any interruption.

She said all schools completed the syllabus as required, and teachers were confident that their candidates were ready for the exams.

She noted that a total of 74,177 candidates are writing the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in the county, of whom 37,616 are boys and 36,561 are girls.

For Grade 6, the county registered a total of 65 397 candidates—31 685 girls and 33 712 boys—who are sitting for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

“Security has been beefed up to ensure the exams are conducted without any interruption; we have centre managers, supervisors, and invigilators ready to monitor the exercise,” she added.

She noted that Kakamega has 15 exam containers, with Navakholo and Kakamega East Sub-Counties having two exam containers each and the other sub-counties having one exam container each.
