A 73-year-old man was trampled by a rogue elephant and died on the spot in Nthunguni area in Mtito Andei location in Kibwezi East Sub-county.
The deceased identified as Charles Mutinda Mutisya was killed on Wednesday as he went to tend his farm. He was attacked by the Jumbo that strayed from the Tsavo East National Park and his body had visible injuries in the 7am incident.
“Police from Mtito Andei police station and Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) rangers visited the scene of the incident and found the body having visible injuries with intestines hanging outside the stomach,” said Makueni County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Ole Naipeyan while talking to KNA on the telephone on Wednesday.
He disclosed that police and KWS rangers are currently patrolling the area while adding that the body of the deceased was taken to Makindu Sub-county Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting autopsy.
