37,023 Inua Jamii beneficiaries enlisted in Makueni

At least 37,023 additional beneficiaries under the Inua Jamii Programme have been registered in Makueni County in the last one month in a scale-up exercise.

This includes Older Persons (OPs) (27,197), People With Disabilities (PWDs) (3,450), and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) (6,376), respectively, who were enlisted between September 1st to 30th, 2023.

The revelations were made on Tuesday by County Coordinator for Social Development, Mr. Daniel Kitheka, in his Wote office, where he said that a total of 66,250 beneficiaries have been scaled up from 29,227 beneficiaries who are now enlisted in the cash transfer programme.

“The new beneficiaries were registered by our officers at either Sub-County or chief’s offices across the county,” said Kitheka while speaking to KNA.

He observed that the next step will now be that the beneficiaries will be enrolled to ensure they open accounts either with Equity, KCB, Cooperative, Post Bank, National Bank, or Kenya Women Microfinance.

The coordinator disclosed the number of newly registered beneficiaries as per constituency: Makueni 8,159, Mbooni 8,328, Kibwezi West 6,298, Kaiti 5,403, Kibwezi East 4,659, and Kilome 4,176, respectively.
