176 people have today tested positive for Covid 19 after the government tested 2,499 samples in the last 24 hours.
This now brings the total load in the country to 6,366 out of 169,836 samples that have so far been tested,
Giving the update on the Covid situation in the country on Tuesday, the Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Rashid Aman said all the 176 are Kenyans with 100 males and 76 female and their ages ranging from the youngest 3 year old while the oldest is 78 years.
“The cases are distributed in the counties with Nairobi having 99 cases , followed by Mombasa with 20, Kiambu 17, Migoiri 13, Uasin Gishu 10, Kajiado 4, Busia 4, Kilifi 3, Makueni 2, and Machakos, Narok, Kisumu, and Kakamega have one case each”, he said .
The distribution of the cases by sub counties is Nairobi’s , 99 cases are in Dagoretti North (24), Starehe (16), Westlands, (15), Embakasi East (13), Kibra (7), Makadara (5), Kasarani (4), Langata, (3), Embakasi Central (2), Dagoretti North, Embakasi South, Mathare and Roysambu have one (1) case each.
In Mombasa, the cases are in; Mvita (7), Kisauni (5), Changamwe (5), Jomvu (2), and Likoni (1) case while in Kiambu, the 17 cases are in; Kiambaa (7), Kikuyu (5), Ruiru (3), Juja and Thika one (1) case each.
In Migori, the 13 cases are in Kuria West (11) and Suna East (2) , in Uasin Gishu, the cases are in Ainabkoi (7) and Turbo (3) while in Kajiado, the cases are in Kajiado East (2) and Kajiado North (2).
In Busia, the cases are in Matayos (2) and Teso North (2) and in Kilifi the cases are in Kilifi North (2) and Magarini (1). In Makueni, the (2) cases are in Kibwezi West, while in Machakos the case is in Athi River, in Narok the case is in Narok West, in Kisumu the case is in Kisumu Central and in Kakamega the case is in Malava.
Today, Dr. Rashid said that 26 patients have been have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing to 2,039 the total number of recoveries while sadly the country has also lost 4 more patients to the disease, bringing our fatality to 148.
The CAS noted that the are other diseases that compound the problem of COVID-19 that government is are currently grappling with saying that observation shows that Covid 19 disease can be severe in people with other underlying conditions.
According to statistics by Worldometer, globally there are 10,447,996 Coronavirus Cases, 509,106 deaths and 5,703,808 recoveries. The coronavirus COVID-19 is so far affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances.
