At least 272 students have benefitted from over Sh 4,137,990 million under the Presidential Public Secondary Schools Bursary in Makueni County, the local County Children Coordinator, Mr. Thomas Mulwa, has said.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the county’s six constituencies, which include Kilome 45, Mbooni 46, Makueni 45, Kaiti 45, Kibwezi East 46 and Kibwezi West 45 students, respectively.
While saying every student will get Sh 15,000, Mr. Mulwa disclosed that each constituency received Sh 689.65, saying the money has already been distributed to all the students being the first half of the 2025/2026 financial year.
“The programme is set to benefit the vulnerable and orphans who are in public secondary schools. They should be boarders and must have scored 250 marks and above in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE),” said Mulwa while speaking to KNA in his Wote town office on Thursday.
He revealed that through the programme, the beneficiaries are supported up to Form 4, while saying this is aimed at increasing enrolment and retaining students in schools.
