A 26-year old man appeared in a Kilifi court charged with defiling a five year old boy.
Kahindi Karisa Kirao was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondiek and pleaded not guilty to the offence which is contrary to section 8(1) as read with section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act no.3 of 2006.
He was charged that on February 3, 2019 at Kivuvuni village in Bamba, Ganze Sub County, he defiled the minor after taking him to the bush.
He was released on a bond of sh.200, 000 which he could not immediately raise and was remanded at Kilifi GK prison as the case was set for mention on February 27, 2019.
Four witnesses who caught him in the act will be called to testify before the court when hearing begins.
In the same court, Amina Kalama Masha was acquitted after she was found not guilty of recklessly lighting a fire that caused damage to the house of a neighbour in Vitengeni, Ganze Sub County.
She had been charged that on March 22, 2016, she recklessly lit a fire knowing very well that the fire could spread because of strong winds and the fire did spread burning the home of Patrick Tsuwi Kalama causing damage of a house valued at sh.206, 200.
The magistrate noted in his judgment that the complainant was never called to come and testify in court while the investigating officer also did not turn up to testify in the case.
