Around 2500 dairy farmers from Gankumbu in Tharaka Nithi County have a reason to smile after the Ministry of Agriculture handed them a 200 liters’ milk dispenser that is meant to boost profits earned by the farmers.
The appliance which is also known as Anytime Milk Machine (ATM) will help eliminate packaging and processing of milk leading to lower retail prices and more daily value earned by farmers.
The milk ATM vending machine will also help the farmers to cut out middlemen and sell directly to the consumer.
Speaking on behalf of the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mr. Peter Munya in Chuka Town, Personal Assistant to the CS Engineer Kofia Kaulani said that the milk machine has a capacity of 200 liters and will promote selling of milk by Gankumbu Dairy farmers.
This will also allow consumers to buy milk for any amount depending on the amount of money they have. “The CS promised to bring you this ATM machine to help you sell more liters of milk and he has fulfilled it,” he said.
Kaulani advised the farmers to utilize the machine well in order to increase milk production. He urged political aspirants who were in attendance to support the farmers if elected into power.
