A middle aged man was arraigned before a Kiambu Court on Tuesday, charged with attempting to rape his grandmother in Banana Township, a fortnight ago.
Michael Karanja Wairimu appeared before Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate (SPM), Stella Atambo charged that on 10th October 2019, he intentionally and unlawfully attempted to sexually assault the complainant contrary to sexual offences Act 2006.
Wairimu faced an alternative count of indecent assault to the effect that on the same day and place, he touched the private parts of the complainant with his hands.
He pleaded not guilty to the two counts and his case will be heard on January 3rd, 2020.
He was released on a Sh.100, 000 bond with a surety of similar amount pending the hearing.
The Senior State Counsel, Donnex Ongira said he had lined up 5 witnesses to buttress the case.
In the same court, Benard Mungai was charged with defiling an 11 year old minor on October 20th at Gachie estate.
Mungai faced an alternative count of committing an indecent act with a minor, whereby he was accused of unlawfully touching her private parts.
He pleaded not guilty to both counts and the SPM released him on Sh.200, 000 bond and a surety of a similar amount pending the hearing.
The case will be heard on 6th January 2020 with mentioning on 5th November 2019.
Ongira, appearing for the prosecution told the court that he has lined up six witnesses to prove his case.
