Seventeen youths have been recruited to join the national police service in Ijara constituency as others were turned down for failing to meet the required guidelines.
Ijara sub county police commander Joseph Nyaga said the lucky recruits will eventually join the various police formations including the Anti- Stock Theft Unit, General Services Unit, Administration Police, Regular and Crime units.
Nyaga said most of the local youth especially ladies failed the test due to low examination grades.
Subsequently, he appealed to local parents, teachers, pupils and other stakeholders to work together towards improving education standards for posterity.
The police commander said there were very limited job opportunities that called the youth to work hard for impressive academic grades in order to stand above others when they arise.
