Today 349 people have tested positive for Corona Virus disease, from a sample size of 4,208 tested in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate is now 8.3 per cent and total confirmed positive cases now are 171,084 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,815,766.
In a statement on the COVID situation in the country, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that from the cases 327 are Kenyans while 22 are foreigners. 196 are males and 153 females. The youngest is a seven-day-old infant while the oldest is 90 years.
In terms of County distribution, Nairobi has recorded 80 cases, Kisumu 67, Siaya 37, Mombasa 35, Kilifi 19, Nyamira 14, Kericho 14, Kiambu 12, Makueni 10, Kisii 9, Garissa 9, Busia 7, Uasin Gishu 5, West Pokot 5, Kitui 4, Nakuru 3, Kajiado 3, Homa Bay 2, Kakamega 2, Kirinyaga 2, Narok 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Laikipia 1, Machakos 1, Migori 1, Nandi 1, Nyeri 1 and Embu 1.
In terms of Sub County distribution; In Nairobi the 80 cases are from Langata (9), Starehe (7), Kibra and Roysambu (6) cases each, Dagoretti North, Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Ruaraka and Westlands (5) cases each, Embakasi east, Embakasi South, Makadara and Mathare (4) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi North and Kasarani (3) cases each and Embakasi Central (2).
In Kisumu the 67 cases are from Kisumu Central (44), Kisumu East (13), Kisumu West (4), Muhoroni and Nyakach (2) cases each, Nyando and Seme (1) case each. In Siaya the 37 cases are from Alego Usonga (15), Gem (10), Rarieda (6), Bondo (5), Ugunja (1). In Mombasa the 35 cases are from Nyali (16), Mvita (8), Jomvu (4), Changamwe and Kisauni (3) cases each and Likoni (1). In Kilifi the 19 cases are from Magarini (13), Malindi (5) and Kilifi North (1).
In Nyamira the 14 cases are from Borabu and Manga (5) cases each, Nyamira Town (4). In Kericho the 14 cases are from Kipkelion East (7), Belgut (4), Kipkelion West (2), Ainamoi (1). In Kiambu the 12 cases are from Ruiru (10), Kiambaa and Kiambu Town (1) case each. In Makueni the 10 cases are from Mbooni (4), Makueni (3), Kibwezi West (2), Kibwezi East (1). In Kisii the 9 cases are from Kitutu Chache South (3), Kitutu Chache North and Nyaribari Chache (2) cases each, Bobasi and Bonchari (1) case each. In Garissa the 9 cases are from Dadaab (6), Garissa Town (3). In Busia the 7 cases are from Matayos (6), Nambale (1).
In Uasin Gishu the 5 cases are from Kapseret (3), Turbo (2). In West Pokot the 5 cases are from West Pokot. In Kitui the 4 cases are from Mwingi Central (2), Kitui West and Mwingi West (1) case each. In Nakuru the 3 cases are from Gilgil, Naivasha and Nakuru North (1) case each. In Kajiado the 3 cases are from Kajiado North (2) and East (1).
The 2 cases in Homa Bay are from Homa Bay Town and Rachuonyo South (1) case each, the 2 cases in Kakamega are from Lurambi and Matungu (1) case each, the 2 cases in Kirinyaga are from Kirinyaga East, the 2 cases in Narok are from Narok East and Narok North (1) case each and the 2 cases in Trans Nzoia are from Cherangany and Endebess (1) case each.
The case in Laikipia is from Laikipia East, the case in Machakos is from Kalama, the case in Migori is from Rongo, the case in Nandi is from Emgwen, the case in Nyeri is from Mathira West and the case in Embu is from Manyatta.
Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (25), 10-19 years (26), 20-29 years (69), 30-39 (83), 40-49 (51), 50-59 (32), 60 years and above (63).
The CS said that today 176 patients have recovered from the disease, 144 from the Home Based and Isolation Care while 32 are from various health facilities countrywide.
“Total recoveries now stand at 117,023 of whom 85,040 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 31,983 are from various health facilities countrywide”, he said.
Unfortunately, Kagwe confirmed that 16 people are reported to have succumbed to the disease with all of them being late death reports from facility record audits conducted on diverse dates in the months of April and May now pushing the cumulative fatalities to 3,188.

A total of 1,257 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,704 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care Program. 92 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 21 of whom are on ventilatory support and 54 on supplemental oxygen. 17 patients are under observation.
Another 90 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 84 of them in general wards and 6 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
