16 days of anti-GBV kick off in Makueni

Makueni High Court Judge Teresia Matheka has urged Anti Gender Based Violence(GBV) stakeholders and partners to work together to end GBV in the county.

Matheka spoke on Tuesday at the Makueni Governor’s office in Wote during the official launch of 16 days of anti-GBV under the theme “Unite, invest to prevent Violence Men, Women and Children”

“We are glad to participate in these activities to end GBV. Let’s unite to prevent GBV in society,” said Matheka.

Makueni Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili committed the county to eliminating GBV among men, women, and children.

‘Let everyone get these messages of anti-GBV; we do not want Gender based Violence among Men, Women and Children in the county,” said Mulili.

“We are going to take care of everybody; let us spread the messages to churches and report the cases to authorities to eliminate gender-based violence,” said Executive Member for Gender, Youth, and Sports, Nicholas Nzioka.

Also during the event were the Gender Sector Working Group, including Makueni County Gender Director Douglas Mukanda, among other officials and partners.

The team will sensitise members of the public in Wote town and Kathonzweni market about ending GBV and hold a public event at Kavete Chief Camp near Makindu.
