The two national examinations are progressing well in all 113 centres in Isiolo County, the County Director of Education James Nyaga has confirmed.
Nyaga said that the seven containers from where the examination papers are distributed across the county were opened at exactly 6.00am and the school managers were escorted by security officers to their centres.
He said that the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) are already in progress, having started with a Mathematics examination paper at 8.30 am.
The Director revealed that candidates, security officers and exam invigilators from Malkamansa and Eresa-boru primary schools in Garbatulla Sub-County had to wade through flooding water to get to the exam centres in time.
The county has a total candidature of 4386 pupils with 2111 boys and 2275 girls sitting for KCPE and 4482 for KPSEA representing 2255 boys and 2227 girls. According to Nyaga, there are only two private centres in the area including one at the Prisons department.
The County Police Commander Hassan Barua assured area people of adequate security saying police officers have been distributed to all exam centres and given instruction on how to safeguard management of the exams from day one to the last day.
