Boost to Medical services at Nambale Subcounty after Sh1.2million Water Project Set Up

Medical services in Nambale Sub County have received a major boost after NG-CDF opted to construct an alternative water supply to the Sub County referral hospital the supports over 60,000 families.

The water project at a cost of Sh 1.2million aims at resolving acute water shortage that had hampered the operation thus paralyzing inpatient services especially maternity wing.

The facility’s in-change Micheal Milimu acknowledged the move by the Nambale NG-CDF office for prioritizing healthcare services in their program.

“The operations of the facilities most of the time had been halted by insufficient water supply pushing some clients to transfer their patients to other facilities within the county or outside yet we have adequate equipment and manpower,” noted doctor Milimu.

He added that, “with this additional supply of water, we want to assure residents of Nambale that we will be able to offer quality healthcare services at all times.”

Nambale Subcounty referral hospital over 3000 litres of water on daily basis for its operation yet they could not manage to store as the hospital lacked adequate storage facilities that are reliable.

Residents of Nambale led by Dennis Mapesa have faulted the county government of Busia for its failure to give equal attention to Nambale Subcounty referral as compared to other Subcounty referrals.

“Nambale Subcounty has always been given little attention by the county government of Busia in all county projects since devolution. We don’t understand if it’s politically ignited or because we lack our leader at the negotiating table,” lamented Mapesa.

The office of area MP through his personal assistant Polycarp Wasikoli assured that they will give maximum attention to the Subcounty referral and through partnership with county government to give it status of level 4 hospital.

“Most hospitals within Nambale Subcounty are faced with the problem of shortage of water. The NG-CDF here will ensure all facilities from dispensary, to Subcounty referral have clean water to boost service delivery efforts,” said Wasikoli.

The residents around the hospital will also benefit from the water project.
