About 1000 vulnerable households in Kitutu Masaba Constituency in Nyamira County have received food donation worth Sh1.5 million, courtesy of Evans Misati Foundation to cushion them from the coronavirus pandemic.
The distribution exercise was held at Manga Sub County headquarters and graced by County Commissioner Amos Mariba.
The Foundation was founded by Mr. Evans Misati, a politician in Nyamira who contested for the County’s gubernatorial seat in 2013.
Mariba lauded the organization and called on for more Kenyans of goodwill to support the needy families during this period.
“This a good gesture started here in Nyamira by this Foundation, and I’m appealing on other Kenyans of good will, philanthropists, to chip in and ensure our needy people transit through this pandemic period smoothly,” said Mariba.
The county commissioner also asked the residents to adhere to government regulations set to reduce the spread of the novel pandemic.
“We should give the government ample time by simply following the laid down directives on prevention of Covid 19, we should take it as a personal responsibility in fighting this pandemic and keeping it at bay. We are not going to be lenient if you break any of the rules,” he added.
The officials of Evans Misati Foundation distributed 10kgs of dry maize cereals, two bars of soap, a packet of tea leaves, One Kilogramme of sugar, 500gms of salt, ½ a litre of cooking oil to identified vulnerable families by the area administrative officers.
