1,000 vulnerable families ravaged by Covid-19 effects to receive food donation

More than 1000 vulnerable families in five villages in Uasin Gishu County will benefit from 16.5 tons of foodstuff donated by various wishers.

The foodstuff was flagged off on Friday by Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno to cushion the families hard hit by the effects of Covid -19.

The donations were received from Last Resort Foundation, Parklands Mosque and Madrasa Trust through the auspices of Red Cross Kenya.

Speaking while flagging off the food stuff at the county headquarters, Chemno thanked the Kenya Red Cross for its continued support to the residents of Uasin Gishu County in the fight against Coronavirus Pandemic.

Speaking on behalf of Red Cross the organization’s Nairobi County Chairman Pallan Lalchand said that the organization was working on another batch of donations consisting of 2,000 face masks for the vulnerable households as well as food donations to Eldoret Rescue Centre.

Red Cross North Rift Regional Manager Nicholas Kemboi said that the foodstuff comprising cereals, pulses and washing soap will be distributed to identified households in Kambi Turkana, Kambi Teso, Chebaiywo( Kesses), Kamkunji, and Langas. Each family will receive approximately 16.5 Kilograms of the donation.

Chemno on behalf of the county Government of Uasin Gishu conveyed condolences to The Red Cross Family for the loss of one of their Advocate Paul Birech.
