1, 500 pupils in Makueni benefit from dignity packs

At least 1,500 pupils from 15 marginalized primary Schools in Makueni County have received dignity packs a donation from the County Government through the Department of Gender, Children, Youth and Social Services.

The dignity packs target to benefit orphans and children who have been in the past traumatized by various events in life.

The revelation was made by the Governor’s Spouse Anita Mbinya Mutula at Kiongwani Primary School in Mukaa Sub County where she presided over the celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day on Tuesday.

She further added that the packs would especially ensure the teenage girls continued learning without any interruptions.

“The girls have received a toothbrush, 3 inner wears, tooth paste, bar soap, a geometric set, three packets of pads and a branded wooden bag,” said Mrs Mutula.

“Boys have also received three inner wears, a tooth paste, toothbrush, a bar soap, a geometrical set and packaged branded bag,” she added.

The programme is spearhead by the Department of Gender, Children, Youth and Social Services in partnership with the Ministry of Health Services.

This year’s theme is” Break the Silence, Keep Girls in School”.
